SMART “Other” Visa
The SMART “Other” Visa is a popular type of Thai visa for expats. This visa is geared toward foreign talents, investors, and company executives who are working in specialized fields. Applicants can apply for a SMART visa if they have an established business in Thailand, earn THB50,000 or more per month, and have a one-year contract.
This visa type is also popular for people who wish to stay in Thailand for an extended period of time. It entitles the holder to unlimited entries in the country, five-year residency, and free VIP services. Applicants must pay 600,000 baht for the visa, but the visa can be renewed for five years at a time.
SMART Executive Visa
If you are an expatriate seeking a new job in Thailand, you can apply for a SMART Executive Visa. This type of visa allows you to work in Thailand and is ideal for high-level executives. To qualify, you must have a service contract or employment contract with a Thai entity in your targeted industry. This contract must be valid for at least one year and be renewable once. You must also have a bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of work experience in the relevant field.
Thailand Elite has been around for seventeen years and forecasts a growth in subscribers to 2,288 new subscribers in its fiscal year ending in September 2018. Revenue is expected to increase 7.7%, to 1.4 billion baht. Approximately 70% of subscribers are existing expats in Thailand on other visas, such as work permits, retirement visas, marriage permits, and others. While each of these types of visas has their advantages and disadvantages, the Thailand Elite is a far more convenient option for expats.
Extension of Stay
If you’re planning on visiting Thailand on a long-term basis, you can make use of an extension of stay on your Thailand Elite Visa application. This special visa type is categorized as a “Privilege Entry Visa” and is supervised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. The process to obtain this special visa type is simple. Applicants must pass a background check and be in good physical and mental health.
Applicants must have a valid passport with at least 5 years’ validity. If you’re planning to apply for an extension of stay on your Thailand Elite Visa, it’s best to apply in advance. You can do this online or through an accredited sales agent. Applicants must be in good health and have the necessary funds to meet the application requirements. People with a criminal record or a bankruptcy history will not be eligible for this type of visa.
